Climate Change = Hogwash?
For some reason people refuse to believe that greenhouse gases are causing the Earth’s climate to change. I have firm beliefs that the Earth’s climate is becoming more intense in terms of heat and cold. Our winter’s are getting colder and our summer’s are getting warmer.
More specifically, I’m writing this in response to What’s up with that?‘s post on climate trends being recognized in the early post-industrial era of the 1920’s and 1930’s. I am a geologist. I have some schooling and first hand research that affirms the climate change hypotheses.
Don’t be stupid. It’s happening now. If you are under the age of 30. This will affect you in your lifetime.

Mwarf. Climate is always changing, so why now would it be such a big thing.
And since you mention the correlation betweenCO2 level and temperature, why don’t tell us that one trend goes before the other, and that it is the temperature one (about 800 years of differences)? So that if causation there is, it is the temperature affecting the CO2 level and not the other way.
BTW, do you know why Greenland is called greenland? Because when it was discovered, temperatures was so higher than know, there wasn’t any ices on it. That was in the middle age. Was it the fault of us people too?

If that’s the case. Then why is the little Ice Age correlated so nicely with the figure associated with this article.

For one, having two different Y axis on the same graph , like the CO2 and deuterium levels graph screams of data manipulation, it needs to be clearer that these two things are rated on percentage change or something that is related.
And why is the top graph using rate of change for one item and variation for the other; are they both supposed to be percentage change, or is one one the variance?
Global warming critics just get more fuel in their fire when the graphs are unclear. The amount of mediocre information from esteemed institutions is obscene.

Concerning ice cores, CO2, temperature and insolation, please see here. It is an old post related to the plot of CO2 and temperature that Al Gore shows in his book and movie “An Inconvenient Truth,” but I think it is relevent to your post.

I have been, for longer than anyone, unconvinced of global warming. So it’s quite fun to read diatribe trying to spin blatantly contradictory evidence.

You can’t look at everything in terms of human time. You have to look at trends over tens of thousands of years before you can see the big picture. Think in geologic time.
Stop using one fact from NPR to make an argument.
