Judd Apatow’s Winning Streak May End

leave a comment »

Judd Apatow, the director of such hearlded films as Superbad and Knocked Up, has a new movie he produced out this weekend called Drillbit Taylor. The movie follows a drifter (Owen Wilson), who is hired by a group of high school freshman as a body guard. It was co-written by Seth Rogen who is all over the place these days. The premise seems to be set up for a lot of laughs but the trailers I’ve seen haven’t looked that good. Also, the consensus from critics seems to be that it is “the suck”. Let me know what you think if you go see it this weekend.

It’s nice to see Judd’s wife, Leslie Mann, getting some love these days. She was great in knocked up and deserves to be getting more love from casting directors.

Jack Ryan Loves Sam Raimi

with one comment

Jack Ryan has seen even more of resurgence since the Ryan Gosling rumors from earlier this month. Sam Raimi is in talks with paramount to revive the Tom Clancy series of films — as a developer and director. Tom Clancy is still not involved with the plot or development. It was reported earlier today in Variety.

Nothing is for certain yet, but Variety states the film be set in the present, during a “global threat.”

OOOO WOW! This movie is going to be the most original movie ever. It sounds almost as if they are just trying to take the name Jack Ryan and put it into a shitty action movie. I wonder if it’s possible that Sam Raimi and Ryan Gosling can actually make a good movie together.

If I was Paramount, I would make a good movie. Not a bad movie like they are based on these plot rumors.

Currently, Sam Raimi is busy with Drag Me to Hell, but Paramount will hopefully get him working on this picture so it can be released in the summer of 2010. Then again, he might be directing Spiderman 4-9.

Did Michael Cera Kill The Arrested Development Movie?

leave a comment »

Michael Cera has signed on to yet another movie without the word’s Arrested Development in the title.

He is now signed to play Scott Pilgrim in the indie-rock cartoon/graphic novel turned movie. It will be called Scott Pilgrim’s Little Life and will be produced by Universal. The story surrounds Scott meeting the girl of his dreams and defeating her seven evil ex-boyfriends in order to win her love

So, this means that Michael Cera will be tied up with yet another movie. This means that he will be spending a considerable amount of time promoting and doing voice work for the movie over the next year. On the other hand, this gives Michael Cera more exposure. Exposure is good because it makes the potential Arrested Development movie more bankable. Also, because it’s a cartoon, voice work won’t take a considerable amount of time.

Please answer my prayers for an AD movie. Here’s my archived post from last week about the Arrested Development movie.

Dominic Monaghan in Wolverine Orgins Movie

with 2 comments

So, like the title says, Dominic Monaghan is in a Wolverine Orgins Movie. Does this make sense to anyone?

He’s playing a superhero called Beak. You’ve got to be kidding me. The guy is built like an anorexic hipster. I don’t care if he’s playing a mutant who can fly, body armor, and can shoot energy blasts. He’s not a superhero. They must have used lots of CGI and beefed the guy up a little for the part.

Now, I know Liev Schreiber is playing Sabertooth, which is an awesome actor for a great part. Kudos to the casting director on that one. But if Dominic Monaghan has a significant role in the film as a superhero I’m going to be pissed. The guy is a friggin’ Hobbit for godsake.

I mean look at him. Would you call this guy badass or kickass? So, if he’s killing or beating anyone up in the movie I’m going to go bonkers because this guy is a nancy boy compared to Liev Schreiber and Hugh Jackman.

Xmen Orgins: Wolverine opens May 1st, 2009.

Update:

I guess he sort of looks like Beak after all.

2 Days in Paris – Reaction

leave a comment »

I watched 2 Days in Paris earlier today. I thought it could be a mix of witty commentary and love story that would inspire me to change some aspect of my behavior. It almost was.

It was written by Julie Deply and co-starred Adam Goldberg, who has been seen on Entourage and playing other bit parts on the big and small screen. I throughly enjoyed the ending monologue by Julie Deply’s character. I thought it held a lot of truth to the way people enter relationships and shelter their partner from truths.

Some scenes in the movie were quite funny. They mostly involved Goldberg’s character getting into awkward situations and venting about his girlfriend.

Overall, if you are looking for a movie that’s not in the mainstream and has a little bit of international flavor. You might want to check this one out.

Into the Wild

with one comment

I liked Into the Wild, which was directed by Sean Penn and has a stupendous soundtrack by Eddie Vedder. I thought the music and pacing of the movie was pretty good. I had been exposed to the story beforehand and knew I was in for a long movie about self discovery.

But I found this guy’s reaction to the movie hilarious. Take a look.

Wes Anderson. Animated Movie?

with 2 comments

Wes Anderson has an upcoming animated movie based on the Roald Dahl story, Fantastic Mr. Fox. Stars such as George Clooney, Cate Blanchett, Anjelica Houston, and Jason Schwartzman (once again.) are attached to the movie. It’s set to realese some time in late 2009.

So far, it has been said that voice recording has begun to commence out in the field. Seriously. Voice parts are being recorded in forests, attics, and even underground.

I don’t know if the general public is as much of a fan of Wes Anderson as I am. But I have high hopes for a stop motion animated movie with his name attached. I just hope it doesn’t turn into another Tim Burton animated crap fast like Corpse Bride and Nightmare Before Christmas. He makes such horrible movies.

To tide you over I have attached Wes’ AMEX commercial.
